Everyone who taste these say I should go into business selling them!

(I find the dough to be too soft and sticky to work with as is, so I sometimes have to add just enough extra flour to get the dough workable.)

2 1/2 cup shortening (part butter)

1 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

5 eggs separated

2 1/2 tsp. vanilla

2 1/2 cups flour

1 1/4 tsp. salt

Fine Chopped nuts

Icing (guess on amounts):

Crisco

Powder sugar

Evaporated milk

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350. Cream shortening, brown sugar together. Add egg yolks, vanilla, flour and salt. Form balls and roll in beaten egg whites and then nuts. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet for 10-12 mins. Remove from oven and press thumb in each. Cool and then ice.
